“Who’s there?” I answered Cody.
“Owl,” he replied.
“Owl, who?” I dutifully answered.
“Who else would you expect to be there?” he laughed.
I must have looked puzzled because he said, “Don’t you get it? An owl says ‘who’!”
Evidently he doesn’t quite get the concept of a knock knock joke, but he’s well on his way to understanding how puns work.
Do your kids make up jokes? Please share!

Ah, Yes…..the made up joke. My kids do the same thing. Some are actually so corny that they are funny.
Kind of like some of my own jokes
I think I heard the “orange” one a thousand times. I always acted surprised by the punch line and said “Oh, you got me!” Until one day, after the usual exchange…
My daughter got a very concerned look and reached up to hold my face in her hands.
She said, “Mommy, does it make you sad?”
“Sad,” I said, “Why would I be sad?”
“Because you’re not so bright.”
Ahh, children. I guess the good point is that she was honestly concerned about my feeling. Kids.

Ha! that is too cute!
Parenting confession: I really hate the stage where they make up jokes that make no sense whatsoever. I can only fake laugh so many time a day!
I’m so with you, Jenny. I bet most parents agree!
That’s hilarious, Heather! Kids are a riot.
