I have been reminded again of what’s really important in life.

One of my dear college friends informed me tonight that his 5-year-old son, just a month younger than Logan, has a brain tumor. He and his wife just found out yesterday, after a couple weeks of the little guy complaining of headaches and not walking quite right. Today, after an MRI, they found out that he has a tumor near his neck. They have no idea if it’s cancerous or not, but they are heading to a big city to have it removed. Hopefully the weather will be cooperative tomorrow morning so they can get there, as they weren’t able to fly out today due to weather.

Please, give your kids an extra hug and kiss and remember how much you love them, even if they do drive you absolutely crazy at times. All the “stuff” in the world can’t make up for the loss of a child.

If you’re a praying person, please add Mark and his family, especially his son, Elliot, to your prayer list. They need all the prayers they can get that this tumor is benign.

You’re in my thoughts and prayers, Mark, Elliot and family.

  1. Sarah, except for the ages, I could’ve written this, five years ago. My son’s best buddy was 9 when they discovered his brain tumor. Today, he is an active, smart@ss 14 year old. I still love him to pieces. I hope your friends have much support and that their son makes his way through the necessary treatment with few ill effects.

Thank you for reminding us what really matters. It is easy to forget in this time of annual commercialism.
My heart goes out to the family, how heavy their hearts must be.
I am going now to hug my teenage daughter, whether she wants it or not!

I’m thankful every minute of every day for our 4 healthy children, our daughter-in-law, and our infant granddaughter. I’ve lived loss, and have not been unappreciative since. Hope all works out for the young man and his family.
