My post from last February about homework in kindergarten has attracted such a large number of readers, I decided to revisit the subject.
This year I have another kindergartner and the homework that started to trickle in at the beginning of the year has been gaining speed by the week.
Last week, when I went on my [...]

Say what?!?!

Logan’s ongoing and long-term baby obsession has taken on a new low.
Called to school to pick up the aforementioned child early because he had an on-again, off-again headache and tummy ache, I was leading my offspring, who didn’t seem sick at all, past the playground on our way to the van when his kindergarten teacher [...]

First day of school!

So today was the kids’ first day back at school. All but Logan, who only had a 15 minute meeting with his teacher today. His first official day of kindergarten will be on Thursday.
You can expect me to be a sobbing wreck that day. I will also be posting a picture of Logan getting on [...]

The Magic Glasses

Cody had a difficult time adjusting to kindergarten last year. He’s not a morning person at the best of times, but faced with a long bus ride and an even longer day away from his beloved home made him even more snarly come 6:50 a.m.

In February I posted about Logan’s teachers advising me to think about putting him in Junior Kindergarten rather than Kindergarten. I concluded my post with this:
“I’m just hoping that his presence (or lack thereof) in junior kindergarten isn’t the swing vote that decides on its existence.”
Guess what, ladies and gentlemen? Sure enough, Logan’s presence (or [...]

The kindergarten dilemma

Logan will be 5 in a few weeks. By the time school starts in the fall, he’ll be 5-1/2. The girls, whose birthday is in June, started kindergarten when they were 5. Cody started this fall at age 6 because his birthday is in mid-August, right on the cutoff line.
And thus begins the kindergarten dilemma, [...]

Cody has been in kindergarten for five months now. And the homework has been, at times, piling up.
Homework in kindergarten??
Yes, it’s true. Homework. In kindergarten. At the tender age of 6.
Maybe it’s just me, but I have a big problem with my kindergartener having homework. A HUGE problem.
Hence the homework pileup. It’s a symbol of [...]
